Aha, also am Lemming liegt es ob es der Schneeeule gut geht. Gibt es viele dieser manchmal massenhaft auftretenden Nagetiere, so kann auch die in der Tundra beheimatete Schneeeule gut Beute machen und den Nachwuchs groß kriegen. Bricht aber alle paar Jahre die Lemmingpopulation zusammen, so ist das eine schlechte Zeit für unseren Vollzeitjäger, die Nachts, aber für Eulen untypisch, auch am Tage auf Nahrungssuche sind. V letech, kdy je lumíků málo, se sovy sněžné nevyhnutelně stěhují na jih a občas se dostanou až do středního Německa. Sovy sněžné mají oproti ostatním druhům sov jednu výhodu: dokáží si vytvořit tukovou zásobu na arktickou zimu. Geniální alibi pro obezitu.
