Station 4 Goldaguti
Manch harte Nuss haben sie schon geknackt mit ihren scharfen Nagezähnen und dem kräftigen Gebiss. Da muss man schon Freude daran haben selbst die besonders harte Paranuss zu öffnen. Aber so sind sie die Agutis, gehören sie doch als eigenständige Gruppierung zu den Nagetieren. Dank ihrer Angewohnheit das Restfutter zu vergraben, tragen sie zur Aufforstung der Wälder bei, weil die darin enthaltenen Samen später auskeimen. Zu ihren Weidegebieten legen sie sich festgetretene Pfade an, auf denen sie sich auch schnell vor Raubtieren in Sicherheit bringen können. Bei Gefahr stellen sie ihre Grannenhaare auf, so machen sie mit dieser Drohgebärde einen größeren Eindruck auf den Feind. Sollte ein Aguti doch von einem Fraßfeind gegriffen werden, können sie ihre Grannenhaare auch abstoßen und sich so retten.
Station 4 Aguti
Svými ostrými hlodáky a silnými čelistmi již rozlouskly nejeden tvrdý oříšek. To už musí jednoho hodně bavit, aby si rozlouskl i obzvláště tvrdý para ořech. Ale takoví jsou aguti, protože patří mezi hlodavce jako samostatný rod. Díky svému zvyku zahrabávat zbytky potravy přispívají k obnově lesů, protože semena obsažená v těchto zbytcích později vyklíčí. Na pastviska se dostávají po dobře vyšlapaných stezkách, kde mohou rychle uniknout před predátory. V případě nebezpečí zvedají obočí, aby tímto výhružným gestem udělali na nepřítele větší dojem. Pokud je aguti chycen predátorem, může také odhodit svou srst, a tak se zachránit.
Station 4 Agouti
They have cracked many a hard nut with their sharp nail teeth and powerful jaws. You have to enjoy opening even the particularly hard Brazil nut. But so they are the agoutis, nevertheless, they belong as an independent grouping to the rodents. Thanks to their habit of burying the leftover food, they contribute to the reforestation of forests, because the seeds they contain germinate later. They make well-trodden paths to their grazing areas, where they can quickly escape from predators. In case of danger, they put up their awn hairs, so they make a bigger impression on the enemy with this threatening gesture. If an agouti does get grabbed by a predator, it can also shed its awn hairs to save itself.
